have you said thank you in greek today?

I have.  “EffcareeSTO.”

No, that’s now how it’s spelled.  I can’t even begin to spell it correctly.  That’s how it sounds to me, effcareeSTO.

I’m on Mykonos Island with one of my daughters.  We spent a couple of days in Athens and then headed here.  All of Greece has been celebrating Easter, culuminating in Easter Sunday on, well, Sunday.  What that means is all of the sites were closed.  And the streets were littered with people roasting lamb.  Quite a site and aroma!

I find the Greeks to be so very friendly and gracious.  So many people we’ve encountered speak English.  It makes it really easy.  I’ve had to ask about a bajillion times how to say “thank you” in Greek.  I think I have it.  “EffcareeSTO.”

If you have not see it yet, stop what you are doing and watch this video:

Susan Boyle on Britain\’s Got Talent

I was floored when I first saw this.  There is so much to learn from this hidden beauty.  Obviously, we are all beautiful – gifted with hidden talents.  Maybe we don’t even know what the talents are as they have yet to be unearthed.

Yet, I think what struck me most profoundly about this video is how she moved.  She seemed to have a confidence that belied her appearance.  She moved like she knew she was being judged and still she stood with grace and authenticity ~ being true to her own self.   What courage!

People are judging, all the time.  No amount of our changing ourselves to try to somehow match another’s idea of who and how we should be is going to stop the judging.  They are going to keep judging…just as many of us judge others.  What about taking a lesson from Susan Boyle and live like no one’s judging.  What would you do differently?  How might life be if you free yourself from the tyranny of fear of judgment.  You are being judged.  So am I.  So what.  What if we all stopped caring that others are judging?

Seriously.
