Yes! Rainy, that was you and it was Cocoa Beach. And, Linda, I'm so glad. As I wrote this, I thought that perhaps I should save this and post in the summer...now I'm glad I didn't. Enjoy Mexico and gazing at the sky.

I love how you so beautifully articulated your thoughts on this. I agree with what you're saying about the commitment to the commitment. I remember at one point in my marriage, my beloved and I agreed to take divorce off the table. That decision was the decision to commitment to the commitment to love. The way that I most frequently think about this is my willingness to learn to love him completely and learning to let him love me completely.

Another big thread that has kept us entwined is learning to say (most times with great good humor), "You know, we are NOT the same!"

Ahhhh, the level of "committed" love you speak of, takes time and experience and effort and a willingness to accept "all" the warts, yours and his... and, without that commitment, reaching that "meeting of souls" I don't believe, is possible. I loved my husband deeply when I married him, and, today, having experienced life "on my knees" in times that would send most of us running, with him, I can honestly say, I love him, and myself "more" than I ever thought possible. Simply put, IF we are willing to put ourselves "fully in" to a committed relationship, no matter what, being committed to the commitment, then we have the opportunity to "receive and feel" the "pearl" of life as I believe it was intended... "eyes wide open". Thanks Melanie, for tackling and graciously writing what you know about so well.

Hi Melanie. Here is a great quote that relates to shoulding, judging and criticizing:

"People take different roads seeking fulfillment and happiness. Just because they're not on your road doesn't mean they've gotten lost." H. Jackson Browne, Jr.
